Why a platform?

The "Culture with private copy" Association

55 organizations launched a joint operation targeting the general public the better to make known the private copy system. The purpose of this joint approach is to highlight the role of a system that remains poorly known to the general public, despite its essential contribution to the preservation of our country’s cultural diversity and artistic vitality (and that of the European countries that have adopted it) by ensuring the remuneration of creators (to whom 75% of the sums collected are paid directly) and helping over 4,000 cultural events in France.

Together, they wish to defend a system that has proved its worth and has adapted to technological evolution, but that equipment manufacturers are constantly threatening for purely commercial ends.

The Association founded on 8 April 2008 is chaired by the director Alain Corneau: “Private copy is an essential element in the remuneration of creators and the financing of our country’s cultural life, since 25% of the sums collected are reserved for initiatives of general interest, contributing to many structures (training centres, festivals, auditoriums, orchestras, etc) and enabling artists to make themselves known or bring their projects to fruition... Suppression of the levy, or its reduction would be truly catastrophic for creators, professionals and the public.”

The members of the “Culture with private copy” Board are: ADAMI, ADAGP, ARP, PROCIREP, SACD, SACEM, SAIF, SCAM, SOFIA, SPEDIDAM, SPPF, UNAF.
